Tennis Summit 2020
It is a great privilege to be a keynote speaker for the Tennis Summit 2020. This is always a great online event with some other great speakers like Paul Annacone, Nick Bollettieri, Taylor Dent, Craig O’Shannessy among many others. My two topics of focus were on the Tennis Serve (with a specific focus on Stage 3 – Loading) and also Shoulder Health for the Tennis Player.

I had rotator cuff surgery in 2012, full thickness tears of supra and infraspinatus. Likely because of age, 67, and wear. I have been playing for about 40 years. Subsequent therapy enabled me to return to play without pain or restrictions. However, my repaired shoulder has very limited external movement. If I hold my right elbow to my side , extend my forearm at 90 degrees in front I cannot move the arm to the side more than 5 degrees. My left arm can move through a 90 degree range of motion. I must say that despite that limitation, the shoulder function seems good. My serve is not affected, nor my strokes.
Are there excercises or stretches Ican do to improve the range of motion?
It sounds like you have a significant restriction. It would be wise to limit your movements to the range you can handle without any pain. So start slow and progress appropriately. All the best, Mark
